Created in 1988, recognised as a Pôle Européen Jean Monnet (Centre of Excellence) in 1998 and distinguished by the European Commission in 2007 as one of the centres of excellence for European education in the Jean Monnet network, the Centre of European Law has the objective of monitoring current community law developments manifest in diverse aspects of institutional law and substantive law.

Research department of the Collège européen de Paris - European College of Paris and Host Laboratory for Masters candidates studying European Union law, European commercial law and European litigation, the CDE also welcomes students preparing a thesis on European law, who meet regularly within the framework of "Cherche-Midi", as well as young researchers, both French and foreign, working on numerous aspects of European law.

Four areas of research are given priority:

  • development processes in a European Union framework,
  • the basics of European law / basic rights,
  • European private law and competition law,
  • European administrative law.
