Created in 1999, the Thucydide Centre takes an interest in the dimension of international relations, including an analysis of political, strategic and security relations.

Special attention is given to multilateral and institutional aspects, normative strategies and political law, with a polarisation on analysis and evaluation within the framework of French foreign policy.

While continuing to publish the Annuaire Français de Relations Internationales (AFRI), of which 9 volumes already published hope to contribute to the recognition of a Francophone doctrine in the sphere of international relations, the Thucydide Centre concentrates on four research areas:

  • development of security problems in the post-11/9 era, from a perspective of both challenges and responses,
  • multilateralism,
  • United Nations role and reform,
  • problems of European construction and its place in globalisation.
