This presentation, which will include programme extracts, will explore issues in the criticism and historiography of television and the relationship between the nation state, television drama and criminal justice. It will focus principally on the BBC's Law and Order which caused uproar when broadcast in 1978, but will also consider contemporary issues in the analysis of transnational crime fiction.
